When you feel unqualified...

Updated: Dec 10, 2020

Do you ever feel inadequate or unqualified to speak about Jesus? Do you struggle to understand how God can possibly use you to further His Kingdom? Me too. Some days I feel so small, so insignificant. I even wonder sometimes if I am really qualified to be writing this blog. But every time I’ve begun to feel insecure or doubt my abilities, God somehow reminds me that what I’m doing does matter.

Friends, as followers of Christ, we have been qualified and anointed to speak Truth into this world. When we choose to do life with Jesus, we receive the Holy Spirit. That Guy is great at stepping in when we don’t know what to do next. When we don’t have the words, He will give them to us. When we don’t know what the next right move is, we can call on Him and He will show us. With the Holy Spirit we do not have to be fearful of being inadequate.

God has equipped each of us to share His Good News to anyone we come into contact with. He has given us individual gifts that can be used to witness and minister to others. We have the very spirit of Jesus living in us! Let me repeat that in case you didn’t really hear that: the very same spirit that brought Jesus back from the dead, is the spirit we have in us. That is insane! We have that same power in us. We have been equipped to do amazing things in Jesus’ name. You should feel so empowered by that. No matter if you are working in a corner cubicle at an office, leading a bible study, pastoring a church, or mopping the floors of a middle school as a janitor, you have been equipped and are qualified to share the Good News of Jesus. There is no certificate or diploma necessary. As long as you know Jesus as your Savior, you can do incredible things.

When you start to feel insecure or doubt your qualifications to speak about Jesus, remember that Jesus hand picked you as His masterpiece to do good works in His name. Pray and ask God to reveal to you what your gifts are and how you can use those in your sphere of influence. You were created by an amazing God to do amazing things, my friend. Walk confidently in that.

1 John 2:27

But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
