The Waiting Game

I think most people can relate when I say that waiting is hard. I am not naturally a patient person so that makes waiting even tougher for me. It doesn't help that we live in a world where waiting is not something that we have to do very often. We can order something online and have it at our door the next day, thank you Amazon Prime. We can use our cellphones to call someone with a question and have the answer instantaneously. We can make ourselves an instant cup of coffee with our trusty keurigs. It can make seasons of waiting in our lives seem that much longer. I am currently in a season of waiting and there have been plenty of times that I have grown weary and wondered if God was ever going to reveal an end to my wait.

During my season of waiting, I am continually working on trusting God and His plan. The thing I keep reminding myself of is that God has had every detail of my life planned out since before I was even a thought. He has it all planned. Not only that, but His plan is better than anything I could ever imagine. The timeline may not make sense to me, but it surely makes sense to God.

I've tried to use this time of waiting to grow in my relationship with Him. It can be easy to feel discouraged when we feel as though we've been waiting for what seems like forever, but we must remember to TRUST. There is no better path for your life than the one God has put you on. There are so many great verses in the Bible centered around waiting. Some of my favorites include:

-Psalms 27:13-14   I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!

-Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

-Isaiah 30:18   Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

-Lamentations 3:25   The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.

All of these verses are great reminders that God sees us and He will reward those who wait for Him. Your desires are not lost on Him; He knows what you are longing for. It is our responsibility, as followers of Christ, to trust in His goodness and put our faith and hope in Him while we wait. Psalm 37:4 says, "delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Use your time of waiting to draw closer to Him, to delight in Him, and in His perfect timing, He will grant you your deepest desires, and He will reveal to you the answer to your waiting. He might not answer in the way you had thought, but He will be good to you because He loves you oh so deeply.

God is right on time. He is never late in revealing His perfect plans for you.

If you are in a time of waiting, I encourage you to print off the verses above and place them around your house, office, car, etc. to remind you that God is working in you and His timing is perfect. Keep chasing after Him, even when you begin to grow wearing of waiting, because you will be rewarded. I truly believe that God wants to bless each of us, in His time, and in His perfect way.
